I am an inventor, an attorney, and a founder. In the 1980s I studied machine learning. In 1991, as a philosophy undergraduate, I asked the National Endowment for the Humanities whether the human mind is simply an organic machine. The grant did not come through. The question outlasted it, and the machines are now walking across the line I once drew.
